Arts Theatre

Founded by John Maynard Keynes in 1936 originally with a unique arrangement whereby selected amateur groups from the town and the University would be allowed to put on productions in the Theatre with limited risk of financial loss. For further information see Rupert Christiansen (ed.): Cambridge Arts Theatre: celebrating 60 years, with a foreword by Sir Ian McKellan (Cambridge: Granta, [1996?]).
