Studying at Cambridge

Cavendish College

Founded in 1873 by the County College Association to provide, at an affordable price, places for students who were to be rather younger than usual; it lasted only until 1891. Its buildings were taken over by Homerton College. See Peter Searby, ‘A failure at Cambridge: Cavendish College, 1877-1891’, Proceedings of the Cambridge Antiquarian Society , 72 (1983), 106-20.
