An expression introduced into the Cambridge Pocket Diary in 1998, replacing the ‘research term’ introduced the previous year. The older, equally unofficial, expression ‘Long Vac[ation] Term’ had hitherto appeared in the Diary as ‘Long Vacation Residence'.
